Memorial becomes part of an installation in November for two weeks (4th-18th) in St Aidan’s Church, Bamburgh, where a recording of the Cosmo Singers (chamber choir of The University of Manchester) conducted by Robert Guy will be played twice a day at 11.00 and 15.30 Monday to Saturday, and 15.30 on Sundays. This will be in the company of a beautiful artwork by Keith Roberts, Caporetto, nine large blue bells sculpted in plaster and laid out on a plinth without their tongues, their voices silenced. Just as twelve Northumbrian men from Upper Coquetdale are named and remembered in my Memorial, men who fell in 1914-18 and who have no graves, so the battle of Caporetto in Italy in 1917 is commemorated through Keith Robert’s magnificent bells.
